Itineraries

Stop 1

Rice Paper

First up, we will cycle to the Battambang countryside, where we will meet a local rice paper maker. Check out the processes involved in the making and trade of the delicate rice paper, a staple that can be found in many Asian cuisine such as spring rolls.

Stop 2

Handmade Scarves

Next, we will stop at a scarf workshop. Here, we will learn about the craftsmanship involved in this trade. Pick up some tips on the different ways of wearing the Cambodian scarf, which can denote a Khmer person’s profession and status in certain circles of society. You will also have the opportunity to browse and purchase the many scarfs that are on display.

Stop 3

Ek Phnom Temple

After scarf shopping, we will now cycle towards Ek Phnom temple. We will stop here to walk around the temple grounds as your guides tell you more about the temple’s history, including the events surrounding the Khmer Rouge regime. This is wonderful opportunity to photograph the temple, which is surrounded by many old banyan trees.

Stop 4

Rice Fields

After visiting Ek Phnom temple, we will cycle through vast areas of rice fields. Like many other Southeast Asian nations, rice is a major staple and economic commodity for Cambodia.

Stop 5

Pagoda

For our final stop, we will head to a pagoda. Besides holding great significance to the Cambodian-Buddhist community, this particular pagoda is historically rich; learn more about the pagoda’s history, particularly its events during the Pol Pot regime.
